Small Business Success: The Power of Connection and Collaboration

The path of entrepreneurship can often feel solitary and isolating, so the power of connection and collaboration with other like-minded business owners cannot be overstated.  I recently had the privilege of experiencing this first-hand during a retreat with my mastermind group—a vibrant group of women passionate about small business and the art of photography. This gathering was a celebration of shared passions, challenges, and aspirations, and an opportunity to dive deep into what we love. I have loved growing with this group of women, and having the chance to connect in person was amazing!

As you know, in addition to my love for small business, I am also passionate about photography, and this retreat allowed me to combine the two together in such a meaningful way. We spent time unleashing our creativity from behind the lens, and then spent an equal amount of time receiving and sharing business wisdom.  The amazing part of a retreat like this is the opportunity to hang out in between the “official” activities and get to know each other on a more personal level. I have known many of these women for a couple of years online, but having the opportunity to connect in person has made our already tight connection even tighter.  The joy of growing alongside these remarkable women and connecting in person was an incredible experience that left me invigorated and brimming with ideas. 

Our leader, Renee Bowen, also set aside time for self-care by bringing in a Sound Bath practitioner who introduced us to the meditative and healing benefits of that experience.  So much goodness!  Imagine being surrounded by people who not only understand your journey but are also walking a similar path. It was an experience that invigorated my spirit and sparked so many great ideas!

The retreat reminded me how energizing it is to be around people who get it. You know, those who are riding the same rollercoaster as you. It’s a game-changer. As the African Proverb so beautifully states, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” The experience left me feeling invigorated, full of ideas, and ready to conquer the world. It’s amazing what a little bit of support and encouragement from your peers can do. They push you, challenge you, and cheer you on in ways you didn’t even know you needed.

The personal and professional growth you will experience from collaborating with like-minded individuals is immeasurable, and a reminder that you are not alone on this journey. The support, understanding, and camaraderie of peers can propel you to new heights and encourage you to take bold steps you might not take on your own.  The collective wisdom, knowledge, and inspiration that came out of my time with this amazing group was exhilarating and filled me with gratitude and a renewed sense of purpose and I would highly recommend that you participate in a group that can introduce you to like-minded people and experiences that will enhance your life as a small business owner.

My experience got me thinking about how much we can achieve when we come together, and I want you to experience it, too! It’s the reason I decided to create the Small Business Success Society. It’s a cozy corner of the world for people like you and me —entrepreneurs looking for “our people”, who are eager to grow, learn, and share the journey with others who understand.
